It’s time to do right by our youth

Every year, an estimated 1.2 million Canadian children and youth are affected by mental illness.[1] However, only 25% of Canadian children and youth facing mental health problems receive appropriate treatment.[2]

We need to be doing more to provide for the mental health needs of our young people. This issue is real and directly affects teens:

  • Young people (aged 15-24) are more likely to experience mental illness and/or substance use disorders than any other age group.[3]
  • Suicide is the #1 cause of non-accidental death among youth.[4]
  • For 90% of teens who die by suicide, there is an underlying mental health problem.[5]

Parents and caregivers play a vital role in supporting their teen’s overall mental well-being. What if a conversation could change everything?
